Ravens' Mark Andrews discusses returning to scene of playoff nightmare

Tight end Mark Andrews will return to the scene of his nightmare playoff experience when his Baltimore Ravens open the 2025 season with a matchup at the Buffalo Bills this coming Sunday night.

While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Andrews insisted he has put the events of this past January behind him.

Mark Andrews downplays potential Buffalo storyline

"At the end of the day, this is a new season," Andrews explained, as shared by Jamison Hensley of ESPN. "It's two really good teams going against each other. I'm going to play my part, I'm going to do my job to the best of my ability, which I'm excited about. It's an incredible opportunity for this organization, for me, this team."

Andrews received plenty of blame from fans and other outsiders for Baltimore's 27-25 divisional-round playoff loss at Buffalo after he lost a fumble near midfield in the fourth quarter and then dropped a pass on what would have been a game-tying two-point conversion with 1:33 remaining in regulation.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson and other Baltimore players have repeatedly defended Andrews throughout 2025. Nevertheless, the 29-year-old in the final year of his contract was the subject of some trade rumors up until it became clear in August that he wouldn't be going anywhere ahead of Week 1.

What Mark Andrews never lost sight of after playoff mistakes

"I'm a pro; this is what I do," Andrews added on Wednesday. "This is what I love to do. This is my whole entire world. So, for me, it's about focusing, doing my job, and just knowing the type of player that I can be in this offense and for this organization, for the city, and I've never lost sight of that."

It's easy to understand why Jackson wanted Baltimore to hold onto one of his favorite targets through the offseason. As of Thursday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Ravens and Bills tied as the co-favorites at +600 odds to win Super Bowl LX in February 2026.

As it pertains to Andrews' mindset heading into Sunday's showdown, Jackson suggested on Wednesday that his teammate will be ready to shine under the bright lights.

"[He's] the same guy," Jackson said about Andrews. "Nothing has changed."
