Tight end Mark Andrews entered training camp as a member of the Baltimore Ravens, but some continue to wonder if the 29-year-old in the final year of his contract will finish the upcoming season with his current employer.
On Tuesday, Andrews indicated he's doing everything possible to ignore such chatter.
"For me, it's not looking too far ahead," Andrews explained, as shared by Jamison Hensley of ESPN. "It's living in the moment. I'm thankful to be here this year, to be able to compete for this organization and compete for this city. I just want people to know that. It really means everything to me."
Andrews is one of the greatest offensive players in Ravens history and became the franchise leader in total touchdowns this past December. That said, the fact that fellow tight ends Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar are also on track to become free agents in March 2026 has some reporters wondering if the Ravens could take calls about Andrews' availability before or during the 2025 campaign.
"I know the type of player I am, the type of man I am," Andrews said. "All those things, looking forward, they're going to help me grow, get better and be the player I'm meant to be."
The last time fans saw Andrews play in a meaningful contest, he lost a fumble in the fourth quarter and later dropped a pass on what should've become a game-tying two-point conversion play late in Baltimore's 27-25 divisional-round playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills this past January. Quarterback Lamar Jackson has repeatedly defended Andrews throughout this year, most recently when Jackson said during the Ravens' mandatory minicamp in June that he didn't "like" what has been said about one of his favorite targets.
"I know Lamar has my back," Andrews noted. "It's a special connection. It definitely means a lot for him to come out and say those things. I trust in him wholeheartedly, and that's my guy forever."
As of Wednesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Ravens and Bills tied as the betting favorites at +600 odds to win Super Bowl LX. Those two teams will meet at Buffalo's Highmark Stadium for a Week 1 "Sunday Night Football" clash on Sept. 7.
"It's going to be a great story," Andrews added about opening the 2025 season at the scene of his postseason miscues. "I'm excited about that game."
