Quarterback Joe Flacco earned Super Bowl XLVII Most Valuable Player honors with the Baltimore Ravens wearing No. 5 and, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, was the last Baltimore player to rock that number in a meaningful game.
That digit is set to be back in the rotation.
Ravens wide receiver Marquise Brown announced via Twitter he is switching back to No. 5, the number he wore while playing for the Oklahoma Sooners, from No. 15:
5 - Symbol Of Gods Grace!

Back in that Cinco For everyone who copped that 15 I love and appreciate you , I will make that 5 worth it .... #GodsChild #CallGod pic.twitter.com/2Kasahf8eA
A previously announced rule change allows wide receivers, among players at other positions, to go from double-digit to single-digit numbers on their jerseys beginning next season.
Brown generated headlines last November when he complained about a lack of targets, and quarterback Lamar Jackson accepted the blame for his receiver's unhappiness. Per ESPN stats, Brown led the Ravens with 769 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 2020, and both he and tight end Mark Andrews accumulated a team-best 58 receptions in regular-season play.
Brown will now attempt to match Flacco's top accomplishments wearing what may one day be a retired number.
