The Baltimore Ravens trade for wide receiver Diontae Johnson at the NFL trade deadline has officially turned out to be a flop.
The Ravens waived Johnson on Friday after a disappointing run where Johnson barely even saw the field.
We have waived WR Diontae Johnson. We have activated DB Desmond King and WR Anthony Miller from the Practice Squad for tomorrow's game.

After being acquired by the Ravens, Johnson was targeted on just five passes, catching only one of them for six yards. He was suspended by the team a couple of weeks after refusing to enter a game, setting the stage for a move like this.
The Ravens acquired Johnson, as well as a sixth-round pick, in exchange for a fifth-round pick from the Carolina Panthers.
Baltimore was hoping that he would give its offense another big-play threat in the passing game, but there was clearly something very off from the beginning.
It continues what has been a tumultuous year for Johnson. It started with him being traded by the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for cornerback Donte Jackson. In seven games with the Panthers, he caught 30 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns.
Now, he will be searching for his fourth different team since the start of the 2023 season.
It is entirely possible that Baltimore held on to him for as long as it did out of fear that the Steelers might want to re-sign him due to their lack of wide receiver depth following the George Pickens injury. The two teams play each other in a massive game on Saturday (a Steelers win would clinch the AFC North Division for them), and by waiting until now to waive him, he will not be eligible to be claimed until 4 p.m. ET on Monday.
