The 2025 NFL season was full of disappointment for the Baltimore Ravens, as preseason Super Bowl expectations dissolved into a losing season with no trip to the playoffs, marred by injuries, inconsistency, and missed opportunities.
Just two years removed from his second NFL MVP award, Lamar Jackson struggled through a difficult 2025 campaign, with injuries and inconsistency holding back the offense, and a defense that couldn't deliver enough stops in key moments.
As they prepare for the 2026 season, the Ravens' offseason additions on both sides of the ball have them primed for a bounce-back campaign with Jackson at the helm.
The Ravens have a long history of landing fantastic value picks early in the NFL Draft, and this year was no exception. At the No. 14 overall spot in the first round, Baltimore filled one of their biggest needs with a top-10 talent in Ioane, by far the best interior offensive line prospect in this year's class.
Ioane is an absolute mauler in the trenches who will help the Ravens maintain their identity as a punishing, physical unit in the run game, while improving Jackson's protection when he goes to the air. He's as polished and pro-ready as any prospect in this class, and should make an immediate impact that will help the entire offense take their play to a higher level than what we saw in 2025.
Zay Flowers is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands, but the Ravens have lacked a reliable secondary target who can bring size, physicality, and consistency to the table. That shouldn't be a problem after they added two perfect fits in the draft with USC's Ja'Kobi Lane and Indiana's Elijah Sarratt.
Lane's towering frame, impressive wingspan, and ridiculous hands should make him a quick favorite of Jackson's particularly in the red zone. Sarratt was lethal on back-shoulder throws for the national champs last year, and was Fernando Mendoza's go-to target on multiple occasions in clutch situations. Both receivers should elevate the entire passing game with tools the Ravens were lacking at the position.
Baltimore's defense was as disappointing as we've ever seen it, and a far cry from the dominant units we've become accustomed to seeing from this franchise. Injuries played a role in that last year, but the lack of a consistent, effective pass rush was the primary factor for the team's inability to hold up their end of the complementary football bargain.
That shouldn't be a problem this time around, after the Ravens paid big money in free agency for veteran Trey Hendrickson, and spent their second-round draft pick on Missouri's Zion Young. Hendrickson has been one of the league's most consistently productive pass rushers over the last few seasons, and Young is a well-rounded defender who can defend the run and get after the quarterback at a high level. They should both provide a huge upgrade in the trenches, and elevate the entire defense in 2026.
