Ravens Place Lamar Jackson, Tyler Huntley On IR

The Ravens could go the rest of the season without starting quarterback Lamar Jackson, who suffered a thumb injury in their loss to the Bills last Sunday. They will go the rest of the season without backup quarterback Tyler Huntley, who came on in relief of Jackson in Buffalo and quickly exited as a result of a turf toe injury. With Jackson out for at least four games and Huntley done for the year, Baltimore placed both players on injured reserve on Thursday.

The absences of Jackson and Huntley will force the 4-4 Ravens to start third-string rookie Joe Fagnano against the 5-2 Jaguars on Thursday night. Fagnano, undrafted out of UConn, went 10 of 21 for 91 yards and an interception in Week 8. The Ravens will hope for better results versus Jacksonville, though it will be a tall order considering the quality of opponent and the lack of prep time during a short week.

This may end up as a one-week stint as a starter for Fagnano, as the team is finalizing a trade to acquire Jacoby Brissett from the Cardinals. Assuming that goes through, Brissett is likely to take the reins against the hapless Chargers in Week 10.

As the Ravens await Brissett’s arrival, they made it official that Austin Reed will back up Fagnano this week. Reed, whom the Ravens added to their practice squad on Monday, signed to their 53-man roster on Thursday. While Reed has never attempted a regular-season pass since he entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Bears in 2024, he spent time with the Ravens during the summer. He is familiar with offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, who was previously on Chicago’s staff.

In other moves on Thursday, the Ravens elevated outside linebacker Adisa Isaac and kicker Jake Moody from their practice squad. It’s the third standard gameday elevation for Isaac, which is the max number. If the Ravens want to use him again, they’ll have to sign him to their active roster. Moody will make his Ravens debut in place of Tyler Loop, who went on IR after aggravating a groin injury in Week 8.
