Ravens QB Lamar Jackson returns to practice ahead of Chargers game

Baltimore Ravens fans can breathe sighs of relief ahead of Sunday's showdown with the 4-1 Los Angeles Chargers. 

Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson missed practice Thursday with an illness that, which was not related to COVID-19, but Myles Simmons of ProFootballTalk notes the 2019 NFL Most Valuable Player returned for Friday's session after he was a full participant on Wednesday. 

Barring an unexpected development, Jackson should be good to go this weekend. 

This is the second time this season Jackson has been mentioned on an injury report because of a non-coronavirus sickness. He's also dealt with a sore hip and back soreness, but he hasn't been out of action when Baltimore has needed him most. Per ESPN stats, the 24-year-old is eighth in the league with 341 rushing yards and also tied for eighth with a 61.5 total QBR. Jackson is completing 67.1 percent of his throws for 1,519 yards with eight touchdowns and just three interceptions. 

Jackson unquestionably deserves to be mentioned among current MVP candidates following his come-from-behind performance against the Indianapolis Colts that guided Baltimore to a 4-1 mark, but he'd do well to avoid future injury reports for at least a week or two, if only for the benefit of passionate Ravens supporters.
