Ravens QB Lamar Jackson takes accountability for crucial mistakes

The Ravens have had a knack for literally fumbling games away in the fourth quarter this season. QB Lamar Jackson seems to be at the center of the problem, and he knows it.

"Guys want to make something happen," Jackson told reporters. "My job is to protect the ball so when I'm in the pocket, I've got to have better pocket presence. ... The football is a prized possession, and protecting that and keeping it safe. Then, sky's the limit for our offense."

Baltimore's Week 5 loss to the Steelers was eerily similar to its Week 3 loss to the Colts. In both games, the Ravens offense had several opportunities to put the game away and didn't.

Instead, the offense turned the football over, giving Baltimore's opponents the chance to come away with the win. If not for the Ravens' costly turnovers, they'd be 5-0 heading into Week 6.

There is plenty of blame to go around as Baltimore's pass-catchers had seven drops last week, which is tied for the third-most by any team since 2013, per TruMedia.

However, that hasn't been a common occurrence. What has been are mistakes by Jackson in crucial in-game situations.

Over the last three seasons, Jackson has 11 turnovers in the fourth quarter or overtime of one-score games. It's the most of anyone in the NFL, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

The 2019 NFL MVP has already thrown two interceptions and fumbled seven times (four lost) in five games this season. He must find a way to turn the football over less. If he can, the Ravens will be a dangerous team.

Jackson will have the opportunity to prove he can against the Titans (2-3) in Week 7.
