Ravens veteran LB wants a career-first in 2023

The Ravens are dealing with some injuries, as many are, heading into their Week 3 matchup with the Colts. It means one of Baltimore's veterans, who wants to reach a career-first in 2023, could get his role increased.

"When I first came here to visit, I got the feeling that I was joining a team that could really go places,"Jadeveon Clowney said. "I'm sticking to my original goal – to play all 17 games. If I do that, I think my play will take care of itself."

Clowney, who joined the Ravens on a one-year deal this offseason, has yet to play in 17 games in a season. It's quite the goal for the 30-year-old who hasn't played in more than 14 games since 2018.

However, the former No. 1 overall pick in 2014 has looked good in his limited action. Clowney has a sack, three quarterback hits and five tackles, playing in 68 percent of the defensive snaps through the first two weeks.

Now he may have a larger role after LB Odafe Oweh missed his second straight practice Thursday with an ankle injury.

Clowney is in his 10th season in the league, previously playing for the Browns, Titans, Seahawks and Texans. But he seems inspired as ever, playing a key role for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.

"This is my fifth team and I've told the guys here – don't take this opportunity for granted," Clowney added. "We've got the pieces to do something special. I really believe that. We just have to keep working every day for the long haul and see if we can extend this thing into February, you know what I mean?"

Teams never want to think about injuries, but the addition of Clowney certainly looks like a good one, as long as he stays healthy, of course.
