Philadelphia Eagles running back Boston Scott won't be going anywhere.
The Eagles confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Scott has signed his exclusive-rights tender to remain with the club. Philadelphia tendered the 25-year-old ball-carrier last month ahead of the start of the new NFL year that began March 17.
As Josh Alper noted for Pro Football Talk, the tender prevented Scott from negotiating with other teams, which made his return to the Eagles a near-certainty.
Scott was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft but never made his official debut for that organization before the Eagles signed him off the New Orleans practice squad in December of that same year. While he isn't Philadelphia's RB1, he's found a home in the club's backfield and has proven to be a solid secondary option.
Across 29 regular-season games, Scott has tallied 619 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground along with 49 catches for 416 receiving yards and an additional score. He will remain the backup to Miles Sanders and receive handoffs and passes from either Jalen Hurts or Super Bowl XLVII Most Valuable Player Joe Flacco, depending on who the Eagles start at quarterback in September.
