New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn recently made the decision to fire seven assistant coaches from the inaugural staff he built ahead of his 2025 debut season in Florham Park.
One of those coaches has made it clear how he feels about the franchise that dumped him after one year.
Taking to X/Twitter, the Jets’ former passing game coordinator, Scott Turner, replied with the words, “Me too,” to a fan saying they “hate the New York Jets.”
Me too
— Scott Turner (@ScottTurner) January 26, 2026
Turner, 43, was brought on in 2025 as one of the Jets’ top offensive assistants. He worked closely with first-year offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand in building the team’s offense.
A former quarterback at UNLV, Turner has offensive coordinator experience at two NFL stops, serving as the OC in Washington for three years (2020-22) and taking over as the Raiders’ interim OC in 2024.
The firing of Turner is just one of many changes coming to New York’s offensive staff. While Engstrand remains with the team, reports indicate that Engstrand does not expect to call plays in 2026. Former Panthers and Colts head coach Frank Reich is among the names linked to New York as a potential replacement in the play-calling role.
Turner’s two-word tweet points to the messy situation in Florham Park under Glenn’s watch. After captaining one of the worst teams in NFL history, Glenn purged the majority of the staff he himself had built.
Now, Glenn needs to fill those roles one year after he swung and missed on all of them. It’s difficult for the Jets, or their fans, to trust that the struggling head coach can get things right a second time around after his first attempt crashed and burned so quickly.
It will be even tougher for New York to attract quality coaches this year, as Glenn, who clearly feels he is on the hot seat, projects as a lame-duck coach entering the 2026 season, making the Jets an unappealing landing spot for up-and-coming coaches.
While it is a positive that Glenn held people accountable for the Jets’ monumental struggles in 2025, he simultaneously admitted that he did a poor job of handpicking coaches for nearly every critical role on the staff. Now, he has left himself in a position where he will be hard-pressed to find upgrades in those roles, as coaches around the league will be put off by the Jets’ murky situation.
It doesn’t help matters when one of his former assistants is on social media saying he “hates” the team.
