Report: Aaron Rodgers provided Jets with 'wish list' of free agents

Aaron Rodgers getting traded to the New York Jets is appearing increasingly likely. According to various reports, the Jets have already begun talks to sign wide receiver Allen Lazard. There was widespread speculation that those talks were an attempt to please Rodgers.

That appears to be the case, as Dianna Russini or ESPN reports that Rodgers provided the Jets with a “wish list” of desired free agents. In addition Lazard, Rodgers included former All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as well as old friend Randall Cobb and Mercedes Lewis.

Green Bay Packers fans are no strangers to Rodgers demanding players/friends from the front office. Randall Cobb, after all, was acquired in a trade with the Houston Texans prior to the start of the 2021 season to appease Rodgers and convince him to come back. It is no surprise, therefore, that he wants Cobb, Lazard and Lewis to join him in New York. What is surprising, though, is the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. to the list.

OBJ has been Second-Team All-Pro twice in his career and won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021. It was in that Super Bowl that he tore his ACL and missed all of 2022. He is looking to come back in 2023 and hosted a workout that was attended by many NFL teams.

The only hold up may be that OBJ is reportedly seeking $20 million per season. If Rodgers is going to be making close to $60 million, plus whatever the other players on his list make, the Jets may not be able to afford Beckham Jr.
