Report: ABC signs new deal with NFL for 'MNF,' Super Bowl rights

It appears "Monday Night Football" broadcasts won't be going anywhere.

John Ourand of Sports Business Journal reported on Friday that Disney and the NFL have reached a new media rights deal that will include ABC airing future Super Bowl contests and ESPN renewing "MNF." Ourand added the agreement is worth roughly $2.6 billion, approximately a 30% increase from the previous deal between the two sides.

For what it's worth, NFL Media VP of Communications Alex Riethmiller responded: "The report is incorrect and as we don’t negotiate through the media, there will be no further comment."

Nevertheless, Ourand wrote that it's expected the league will announce all of its media deals at some point next week.

CBS, Fox and NBC already reached agreements with the NFL.

Passionate football fans shouldn't expect many changes other than tuning in to ABC to watch a Super Bowl for the first time since 2006 at some point down the road. CBS and Fox will air games on Sunday afternoon, and NBC will retain the rights to lucrative "Sunday Night Football" time slots.

"Thursday Night Football" is switching from Fox to Amazon Prime and NFL Network.
