According to KPRC 2 in Houston, Andre Johnson was the victim of a burglary at his home in the area. That also comes following a post on social media about the crime by Lil Keke, a rapper and friend of Johnson’s in the community.
The theft took place over the weekend with confirmation by the outlet of several notable items being taken as police have opened an investigation into the missing things. Most importantly among them, though, was the ring given to Johnson as part of his induction into the Hall of Fame last summer in the class of 2024.
Johnson played for 14 seasons in the NFL. He spent his entire career appearing for teams in the AFC South with, most notably, a dozen years with the Houston Texans followed by one season apiece with the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans before his retirement in 2016. He finished his career in the National Football League with 1,062 catches for 14,185 yards, posting 73.5 per game, and 70 touchdowns. Over all-time, that would land him in eleventh in receptions and receiving yards. With that, Johnson would be a four-time selection as an All-Pro, twice being a First Team All-Pro in 2008 and 2009 as the league’s leading receiver, and a seven-time honoree as a Pro Bowler.
Johnson was then inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton nearly a year ago back in August of 2024. That’s after being a finalist for the first three seasons of his eligibility for induction in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
That’s after Johnson was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft out of Miami. He spent three seasons at his in-city school as one of the nation’s best receivers from 2001 to 2003, catching 92 passes for 1,831 yards and 20 touchdowns. That included winning a national title with the team in 2001 as part of that era’s run at The ‘U.
The coming investigation will look into the stolen items from Johnson’s home. That includes the ones, like his Hall of Fame ring, involved with his great career in the NFL.
