The Cleveland Browns worked out five players on Friday, according to Pro Football Focus reporter Doug Kyed.

It included quarterback Jake Dolegala along with wide receivers Riley Ridley, Lawrence Cager, Mathew Sexton and Isaiah Zuber.

Dolegala, 24, signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019 after going undrafted out of Central Connecticut.

In 2019, Dolegala spent the season on the Bengals’ 53-man roster, but did not appear in a game.

The Bengals waived 6-foot, 7-inch quarterback in September 2020.

Dolegala has spent time the last two seasons on the practice squads for both the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers.

Baker Mayfield and Case Keenum are the only active quarterbacks on the Browns’ 53-man roster, but the team signed Nick Mullens to its practice squad in September.

It’s possible the Browns brought in Dolegala to throw to the four wide receivers they worked out.

The Browns could be looking to add receiver depth after their decision on Sept. 21 to put Jarvis Landry on injured reserve with a sprained MCL.

The earliest Landry could return is in the Week 6 home game on Oct. 17 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Plus, fellow receiver Ja’Marcus Bradley is going to the practice squad’s injured reserve list due to a hamstring injury.

Ridley, 25, spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons on the Chicago Bears, gathering 10 catches on 11 targets for 108 yards.

In August 2021, the Bears waived Ridley, whom they selected out of Georgia in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Riley Ridley is the brother of Atlanta Falcons receiver Calvin Ridley.

Cager, 24, spent the 2020 season with the New York Jets.

The undrafted free agent had two receptions on six targets for 35 yards.

The Pittsburgh Steelers released Sexton, 23, in late August.

In the 2021 preseason, Sexton had two catches on four targets for 10 yards.

As a punt returner, Sexton had five returns for 86 yards.

However, in the Steelers’ preseason finale, Sexton muffed a punt, which led to a Carolina Panthers’ touchdown.

Sexton went underrated and unsigned out of Eastern Michigan in 2020.

Zuber, 24, played four games for the New England Patriots in 2020, catching two passes on two targets for 29 yards and having two rushing attempts for 21 yards.

After getting waived by the Patriots in late August, the San Francisco 49ers signed Zuber to their practice squad in early September.

The 49ers released Zuber in mid-September.

A look at the other receivers on the Browns’ roster

Free-agent signing Ryan Switzer is listed on injured reserve.

The Browns have four receivers on their active roster: Odell Beckham Jr., Rashard Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones and rookie Anthony Schwartz.

Rookie Demetric Felton is listed as a running back, but also plays some receiver.

Receivers JoJo Natson and Davion Davis are on the team’s practice squad.
