Report: Cardinals' first-round pick drawing significant interest

Will the Arizona Cardinals trade the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft?

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team has received offers from six teams looking to trade up ahead of the Indianapolis Colts, who have the fourth overall pick. The Cardinals are mulling the offers.

The Carolina Panthers, who have the first overall pick, and Houston Texans, who have the second, seem certain to select a QB. Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud and Alabama QB Bryce Young are expected to be the first two picks.

The Cardinals will likely pass on a quarterback at No. 3 as they have Kyler Murray as their franchise QB. Indianapolis and its owner, Jim Irsay, seem to have a sense of urgency to add a quarterback in the draft instead of pursuing Baltimore's Lamar Jackson, who wants to be traded.

"The owner wants the draft-and-develop route, preferring the chance to grow his own while capitalizing on the financial flexibility a young quarterback's contract affords the team," reported The Athletic's Zak Keefer. "He said [recently] that though the type of contract disgruntled Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is seeking is 'no problem'—likely north of $150 million fully guaranteed, at the very least—it's the lost draft capital (two first-round picks) and salary-cap restrictions that have tempered Irsay's interest in such a blockbuster move."

The Colts, who released veteran QB Matt Ryan in March, have shuffled through quarterbacks in the four seasons since Andrew Luck announced his retirement in 2019.

A team looking to acquire the third overall pick would likely select a quarterback before the Colts pick at four, leaving Indianapolis with one fewer option. Kentucky's Will Levis, Florida's Anthony Richardson and Tennessee's Hendon Hooker could be targeted at No. 3.

Hooker was scheduled to visit with the Lions on Monday, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

If Arizona stays put at No. 3, it could select one of the top defensive prospects, either Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. or Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter.
