The New York Jets may be facing a locker room issue as long as Justin Fields remains the team’s starting quarterback.
Some Jets players believe Tyrod Taylor, not Fields, is the team’s strongest option at the quarterback position, according to Connor Hughes of SNY. That feeling has existed since training camp, and Fields’ ongoing struggles have done nothing to dispel that sentiment.
There are truths in the NFL. Among them: You can’t fool players. They put their trust in their coaches putting them in the best position to win. A death knell: When they question if that’s happening.

Fields is 0-5 as starter this season in the Jets’ ultra-conservative passing game. He has four touchdowns and no interceptions in part because the team has such a risk-averse approach on offense.
Taylor, meanwhile, has made two appearances in relief of Fields. He threw two touchdowns and an interception in his lone start, but the Jets very nearly beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before falling short at the end of the game.
Coach Aaron Glenn has made it clear publicly that no thought has been given to benching Fields. They are 0-6, and if things do not get better soon, that question might become more frequent both internally and externally.
