RB Brian Robinson Jr. has been very productive through three seasons as a pro with Washington. However, the Commanders could be fine with moving on from him based on the latest reporting out of the nation’s capital.

According to the latest from Jordan Schultz, Robinson Jr. has been made available for a trade to other teams in the NFL. Liking where things stand in their backfield, Washington has apparently put Robinson Jr. out there on the market “for the right price”.

“Sources: The #Commanders have been shopping RB Brian Robinson Jr. to teams around the NFL,” Schultz tweeted out this evening. “The former 3rd-round pick out of Alabama is entering the final year of his contract.”

“Washington likes its RB depth, but Robinson is available for the right price,” added Schultz.

Robinson Jr. has been the leading running back in each of the past three years for the Commanders, posting 2,329 yards, at 56.8 yards per game and 4.1 per carry, and 15 touchdowns on the ground. That production has led their backfield in each season and would lead the team in all but last year behind only QB Jayden Daniels (891 yards, six touchdowns). With that, Robinson Jr. has put up 2,916 yards from scrimmage, adding in 65 catches for 587 yards and five touchdowns, with 20 total scores in his career thus far.

That said, Washington, as noted by Schultz, seems to like where the rest of their running back room is. Austin Ekeler is back for a second season with the team after posting 733 yards from scrimmage and four total touchdowns last year while the Commanders also have RBs Jeremy McNichols (261 rushing yards, 4 TDs), Chris Rodriguez (173 rushing yards, 2 TDs), and a new rookie in Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Arizona) who they selected in the seventh-round of the 2025 NFL Draft. That supposed comfort could make it easier for the franchise to move on from Robinson Jr., who’s entering the final year of his rookie contract after being a third-round pick by them in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The front office for the Commanders have several things to consider going into this season. That now includes what they want to do in the backfield with Robinson Jr. seemingly available in a deal elsewhere in the league.
