According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Dallas Cowboys and the City of Arlington will extend their lease together through 2055. Right now, the deal runs through 2039, as an additional 16 years will be tacked on. The Cowboys planned to stay at AT&T Stadium for an extended period of time and are now set to commit to such.
“Exclusive to @startelegram: The Dallas Cowboys and the City of Arlington are finalizing an extension of their lease agreement to 2055,” Harris said via X. “The current lease is set to expire in 2039, but AT&T Stadium’s lifespan is set to be pushed out much further.”
AT&T Stadium has been the home of the Dallas Cowboys since 2009. Texas Stadium used to be where the teams played home games, which was located in Irving, TX. But owner Jerry Jones built the new development in Arlington and instantly turned it into a spectacle.
The Cowboys have fared pretty well at home since the stadium opened. Of the 138 games that have taken place, 80 have resulted in wins. Funny enough, one tie is on the record after doing so this past season vs. the Green Bay Packers.
Jones will be hoping for plenty more wins throughout the years. Not many ever doubted the Cowboys moving homes in the near future. However, things are set to become official in the near future. Arlington, TX, will continue to be the franchise’s official home — for at least just under another three decades.
Of course, there are plenty of more events held inside AT&T Stadium. Texas high school football plays its 12 state championship games there, hosted by UIL. College football routinely makes its way to Arlington, from regular season games to the annual Cotton Bowl and even the Big 12 Championship. All levels of football are played in Jerry World.
Non-football sporting events include the men’s Final Four, which is scheduled to return in 2030. The Dallas Stars will also host an NHL game at AT&T Stadium, scheduled to face the Las Vegas Golden Knights in February 2027.
But the biggest event of them all may come this summer. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be played at AT&T Stadium for a total of nine games. Five are in the group stage, followed by four knockout round matches — one of which will be a semifinal.
