Deshaun Watson weighing 'possibility of requesting a trade'?
Could Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson demand a trade? Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Report: Deshaun Watson has spoken with teammates about 'the possibility of requesting a trade'

This season went about as poorly as possible for the Houston Texans but things could go from bad to worse, as Deshaun Watson has reportedly spoken to teammates about possibly requesting a trade.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported that "Watson has quietly broached with teammates the possibility of requesting a trade" and while it's not clear how serious these rumblings are, the fact that the franchise quarterback is even considering shows how dire things have gotten in Houston.

The Texans had reached the playoffs in back-to-back seasons and looked primed to once again make a postseason run with Watson under center. But coach Bill O'Brien shocked everyone when he traded superstar receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals.

After a slow start to the season, O'Brien was fired and while interim coach Romeo Crennell tried to get the team back on track but it was too late to salvage the lost season. The 4-12 Texans ended up finishing ahead of the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars in the regular-season standings. Following the final game of the season, J.J. Watt apologized to Watson for the Texans wasting a year of his career with such an underwhelming performance.

Of course, Watson may just be trying to make it clear that the team needs to show it is committed to winning for him to stick around. But if he is serious about his trade demand, it will be disastrous for the Texans to potentially face the prospect of losing easily the best quarterback in their franchise's young history.
