Report explains hold up for potential Orlando Brown Jr. contract extension
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Orlando Brown Jr. was franchise tagged by the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, which could be the first step in the sides reaching a long-term deal. But there is one potential hold up.

NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo spoke to Jammal Brown, who is Orlando’s mentor. Jammal told him that Orlando is deciding whether he wants to represent himself or hire an agent. The offensive tackle will not sign his franchise tag until deciding whether or not he hires an agent.

NFL Media’s James Palmer indicated that the Chiefs are aware a contract extension could take some time. They are apparently confident a deal will get done.

The Chiefs acquired Brown in a trade with the Ravens last year. The 25-year-old started 16 games last season and has made three straight Pro Bowls.
