During the phone call, Sharpe asked Jones if he wanted to be traded to the Dallas Cowboys, or remain in Atlanta. The 32-year-old responded: "I'm out of there."
Rumors then swirled for a few weeks until Jones was traded to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in exchange for a second-round pick and a fourth-round selection.
Tennessee is very excited to have Jones on board after losing both Corey Davis and Jonnu Smith in free agency this offseason. Several players, including quarterback Ryan Tannehill, tweeted their reactions and welcomed Jones aboard when the news broke.
General manager Jon Robinson also said the acquisition of Jones was huge for the team.
"Excited to add Julio to the football team," he said. "He's excited to be part of what we've got going on in Nashville. It's a big day for our team."
