Report: Raiders to meet with Patriots OC Josh McDaniels Saturday

Las Vegas started the 2021 under Jon Gruden, but when he resigned in October, assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia was named the interim head coach. Bisaccia led the Raiders to a 7-5 record over the final dozen games and helped them qualify for the postseason with a last-second victory in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The group fell to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC wild-card round. Bisaccia interviewed for the full-time head-coaching position earlier in January, while another candidate — Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles — was expected to interview for the post on Thursday.

McDaniels started his football coaching career as a graduate assistant with Michigan State in 1999. His first run with the Patriots was from 2001 to 2008, when he served in various roles, including personnel assistant, defensive assistant, quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator.

McDaniels then tried his hand at a head-coaching gig with the Denver Broncos beginning in 2009, but after a 3-9 start to the 2010 campaign, he was fired. McDaniels recorded an 11-17 mark as the Broncos' lead man.

He spent the 2011 season as the Rams' offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach before returning to New England in 2012 in that same role, where he has been since.
