Robert Saleh’s family still seems to harbor some hard feelings about Saleh’s firing as head coach of the New York Jets.
Wednesday will mark one year since the Jets fired Saleh as head coach, and Saleh’s brother David is well aware of the anniversary. On Monday, he called out the Jets on his X account, pointing out that the team is 3-14 since firing Saleh.
“Last year the #Jets were 2-3 playing for first place in their division when (Woody Johnson) declared that ‘the best roster in franchise history needed a spark.’ Since then the #Jets defense has gone from first to worst donning a record of 3-14,” David Saleh wrote.
Fair or not, those numbers are correct. Firing Saleh last season did not have the desired effect, as the Jets went 3-9 under interim coach Jeff Ulbrich and are now 0-5 this season under new head coach Aaron Glenn. Some Jets players even seemed to believe that firing Saleh had a detrimental impact on the team’s defense.
There were some interesting conspiracy theories as to why the Jets fired Saleh when they did, but the organization seemed to be on the wrong track either way. Still, their total lack of success since making the move has given Saleh and those close to him plenty of ammunition to use to make the franchise look pretty bad.
