Roger Goodell offers NFL stadiums as vaccination sites in letter to President Biden

MLB venues such as Petco Park and Yankee Stadium have been used as COVID-19 vaccination sites during the first rollouts of shots.

It appears NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is also ready to help.

According to an ESPN report, Goodell offered NFL stadiums as sites for vaccinations in a letter sent to President Joe Biden that was dated Thursday.

"The NFL and our 32 member clubs are committed to doing our part to ensure that vaccines are as widely accessible in our communities as possible," part of the letter reads.

"To that end, each NFL team will make its stadium available for mass vaccinations of the general public in coordination with local, state, and federal health officials."

ESPN added that seven NFL stadiums, including the homes of the Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, and New York Giants/New York Jets, are already vaccination sites.

"We can expand our efforts to stadiums across the nation more effectively because many of our clubs have offered their facilities previously as COVID testing centers as well as election sites over the past several months," Goodell wrote to President Biden. "We look forward to further discussion with your administration as well as your partners in state and local governments to advance this effort."

As Tim Twentyman wrote for the official website of the Detroit Lions, Goodell refused to say earlier in the week if the NFL will mandate that league personnel and fans must be vaccinated to take part in future events, such as the upcoming NFL Draft, training camp sessions and the 2021 season.

Unvaccinated individuals are permitted to attend Sunday's Super Bowl LV matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs at Raymond James Stadium.
