Running the Tennessee Titans Offseason in GM Mode

This offseason, I took control of the Tennessee Titans in GM Mode on StickToTheModel with a clear plan: create cap flexibility, reshape the skill positions, strengthen the defense, and build long-term depth through the draft.

Here’s how it played out.

The Big Picture

  • Final Cap Space: $77.0M
  • Players Cut: 1
  • Contracts Restructured: 1
  • Trades Made: 2
  • Free Agents Signed: 6
  • Draft Picks: 10
  • Overall Grade: A+

The approach was aggressive but controlled. Clear money. Replace key pieces. Add youth. Keep flexibility.

The Major Cap Move

Cut: L’Jarius Sneed (CB)

  • Cap Savings: +$16.0M
  • Dead Money: $4.1M this year, $4.1M next year

This was the financial turning point. Moving on from Sneed created the space needed to reshape multiple positions.

Restructuring a Core Player

Jeffery Simmons (DT)

  • Cap Reduced: $25.7M → $16.2M
  • Savings: +$9.5M

Instead of weakening the defensive front, I kept a foundational piece and created room by restructuring his deal.

Trades That Reset the Offense

Sent Calvin Ridley

  • Received: Pick #76
  • Cap Impact: +$26.8M

This move freed significant money and shifted the wide receiver room in a new direction.

Sent Tony Pollard

  • Received: Pick #130
  • Cap Impact: +$9.3M

Another cap-focused decision that added draft capital while preparing to replace him in free agency.

Free Agency Additions

Six signings helped reshape the roster.

George Pickens (WR) – 4 years
The headline addition. A long-term replacement at wide receiver and the new focal point of the passing game.

Kevin Zeitler (IOL) – 1 year
Short-term veteran help to steady the interior line.

Tariq Woolen (CB) – 2 years
Athletic corner depth after moving on from Sneed.

Kenneth Walker III (RB) – 3 years
Brought in to stabilize the backfield after the Pollard trade.

Jaelan Phillips (EDGE) – 2 years
Adds pass rush upside off the edge.

Tyler Higbee (TE) – 1 year
Veteran depth and reliability at tight end.

Draft Class Breakdown

Ten picks were used to build depth and reinforce the trenches.

Round 1 – Pick 4
Rueben Bain Jr (DL, Miami)

Round 2 – Pick 35
Colton Hood (CB, Tennessee)

Round 3 – Pick 66
Kamari Ramsey (S, USC)

Round 3 – Pick 76
Jaishawn Barham (EDGE, Michigan)

Round 4 – Pick 101
Keylan Rutledge (OG, Georgia Tech)

Round 4 – Pick 130
Tyreak Sapp (DL, Florida)

Round 4 – Pick 140
Dametrious Crownover (OT, Texas A&M)

Round 5 – Pick 142
Joe Royer (TE, Cincinnati)

Round 6 – Pick 183
Le’Veon Moss (RB, Texas A&M)

Round 7 – Pick 238
Jadon Canady (CB, Oregon)

The theme was clear: defensive line depth, secondary reinforcements, and offensive line competition.

Final Take

This offseason reshaped the Titans without sacrificing flexibility. Major contracts were moved. Cap space was created. Youth was added across the defense. Offensive skill talent was reworked.

The result is a deeper roster, financial flexibility moving forward, and an A+ grade to show for it.
