The New York Giants made a move in NFL free agency for their new starting quarterback. Russell Wilson was signed after a solid season in 2024 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wilson is a massive upgrade for the Giants from what they had last year at the quarterback position. However, there are still questions about New York's long-term situation under center.

Those questions about the future might be answered during the 2025 NFL draft this week.

During the first round of the draft this evening, Wilson appeared at the Giants' draft party at MetLife Stadium. He also wore his new jersey for the first time.

New York took to X to share a video of Wilson wearing his new threads.

"First time wearing the jersey," Wilson said.

Looking ahead to the 2025 NFL season, Wilson will have his work cut out for him helping the Giants get back into the playoffs. Last season, New York finished with a 3-14 record.

Speaking of last season, Wilson played in 11 games for the Steelers. He completed 63.7% of his pass attempts for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Wilson also picked up 155 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

In addition to Wilson, New York also brought in veteran quarterback Jameis Winston in free agency. The team has added two talented players at the position who can play at a higher level than recent quarterbacks.

As for the draft itself, with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 draft, the Giants focused on defense. They brought in elite edge rusher Abdul Carter out of Penn State.
