The New York Giants are now out of playoff conversations after their tenth loss against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Jared Goff's squad beat them 34-27.
Jameis Winston handled the signal-calling duties with Jaxson Dart in concussion protocol and veteran Russell Wilson dropped to third in the depth chart.
Wilson, however, has chosen to utilize his time off from football in a commendable manner. He is actively giving back to communities, organizing charity drives through his Why Not You foundation. Wilson, who signed a $21 million deal with the Giants this year after playing for Pittsburgh Steelers in the last, has only played six games for the franchise. In those, he has tallied 831 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
He lost the top spot to rookie quarterback Dart after three straight losses at the start of the season.
He has already expressed his desire to continue at the franchise even after losing the starting job. He likes the present locker room and will work for the development of the team.
After 14 long years with almost 50,000 yards and 353 touchdowns, he is letting off the gas pedal in his career. Off the field, Wilson also recently sponsored the New Heights youth basketball team for their first branded kit.
He is working towards a better future for the youth of his community, along with his wife Ciara before Thanksgiving.
