The New Orleans Saints are doing exactly what they always do on an annual basis. Restructures, small extensions, and potential pay cuts continue to swirl for Mickey Loomis' team.

Saints continue to restructure contracts

New Orleans made multiple restructures on Tuesday morning. Following a Demario Davis restructure on Monday, the Saints reworked the contracts of Pete Werner, Carl Granderson, Cesar Ruiz, and Khalen Saunders. Expect all of those players to be in the fold next season.

The Saints now currently have about $13 million in cap space, according to Nick Underhill.

Three free agency moves to make now

That sort of cap space is plenty of room to work for the Saints' front office with plenty of experience in navigating a tight salary cap. They've already extended pass rusher Chase Young on a three-year deal as well.

Not to mention, New Orleans could continue with a few more restructures to create more space, including with veterans like Cameron Jordan, Tyrann Mathieu, among others.

Sign a safety

With the departure of Will Harris, safety becomes an even bigger need for the Saints. Tyrann Mathieu has been banged up over the past two years and continues to get older. Behind him, the depth is limited and inexperienced on the back end for the Saints.

Drafting a safety fairly early and/or signing a potential starter is basically a must for their defense now.

Add a passing game threat

Signing a big-body wideout may make the most sense for the Saints. Both of their top WRs are coming off of serious injuries, and Juwan Johnson is a free agent at tight end.

A reunion with Marquez Valdes-Scantling could make some sense, but grabbing a bigger fish in the free agent market market would help out Derek Carr a bit more consistently next season.

Address interior OL

There are a handful of guards left on the market, including Mekhi Becton, who the Saints should have on their radar. New Orleans has had some interest in bringing back Lucas Patrick, but his season was filled with injuries in 2024.

The offensive line was inconsistent a season ago, largely due to the interior. Kellen Moore has built his offenses through the trenches throughout his coaching career, so adding a notable piece at guard must be a focus before the NFL Draft.
