Losing Chase Young before playing a game was a tough blow for the New Orleans Saints. After a 1-4 start, they could see the return of the talented rusher. Young is chomping at the bit to get back on the football field in black and gold.
New Orleans remained hopeful about Young's status early in the season, but he's finally taken a big step towards being available for Brandon Staley's defense soon.
The recently extended pass rusher got to log his first practice activity in quite some time. Young has been nursing a calf injury since before the season started, and it's kept him out of every game. He was listed as limited in Wednesday's practice and could see his participation increase going forward.

Young arrived later during the portion open to media. But he was fully padded and participating.
Only player missing was CB Isaac Yiadom.

Young was set to miss only a short span to begin the season, but his recovery was a bit slower than the team expected. He wasn't placed on injured reserve, but has missed five games already. Now, he's back, and New Orleans needs him in the pass rush alongside Carl Granderson and Bryan Bresee.
The Saints' star running back suffered an ankle injury in Week 5 against the Giants. He felt sore on Tuesday, leading to a limited participation tag for their practice session. According to Nick Underhill, the RB's injury is not serious, and he is day-to-day this week.
Kamara's injury happened in the first half of the game, per source. Felt a little sore today in practice and backed off of it. https://t.co/Zvu0LOFB7h

This is a scary spot for the Saints, as they just earned their first win of the season last week. The good news? Kendre Miller has been incredibly impressive to start the season, staying healthy and available. Miller saw 41% of snaps last week, his most of the season so far.
“Kendre’s just done a phenomenal job since I’ve been here. I’ve really enjoyed this guy," Saints head coach Kellen Moore said. "I think he’s an awesome player.”

The Chase Young update is a big boost for the Saints' defense. Their defensive line had arguably its best performance last weekend, and it might get a massive boost if he can return this weekend. Meanwhile, the Saints have a legitimate starting option, Miller, if Kamara misses any game time.
