Saints sign former first-round pick from LSU after latest Alvin Kamara injury

Edwards-Helaire produced 1,100 yards from scrimmage in thirteen games as a rookie. His numbers and opportunities have decreased on an annual basis, though. He did not appear in a game for Kansas City this season. 

The running back recently announced that he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). After the reveal, the Chiefs placed him on the non-football illness list before the year began.

Last season, Edwards-Helaire played in 15 games for the Chiefs. 

He totaled just 70 carries for 223 yards and one touchdown. He did prove to have some upside own the receiving game with seventeen catches for 188 yards and a TD.

Edwards-Helaire will get a fresh start in a familiar place. That's a nice bet for him to try to revitalize his playing career and try to prove himself as a capable running back for a team this offseason. It does come with some risk, too. 

New Orleans could be the best or worst landing spot for CEH given what he's dealing with. Over the summer he revealed that he was dealing with complications related to PTSD. It all stems from a self-defense shooting at LSU and it has kept him off the field. While a return to Louisiana symbolizes a return home, it also symbolizes a return to where his trauma occurred. Whether he returns to the field remains to be seen, but Chiefs Kingdom hopes for the best for Clyde. -- Charles Goldman, A to Z Sports

For New Orleans, they get a RB with NFL experience and some motivation to impress those watching him. That being said, Kendre Miller should get the bulk of the workload going forward, if Kamara misses time with his injury.
