The New Orleans Saints continue to reshape their quarterback room this offseason. The team has stayed active as it looks to build depth and competition ahead of the new season.
The Saints agreed to a one-year deal with quarterback Zach Wilson on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The move adds an experienced arm to a group that already features young talent.
Wilson, 26, joins a quarterback room led by Tyler Shough. Shough impressed during his rookie season in 2025 after stepping in for Spencer Rattler. Rattler, a 2024 fourth-round pick, remains on the roster and will compete for reps.

The Saints made more changes earlier this offseason. Jake Haener, a 2023 fourth-round pick, left in free agency and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Head coach Kellen Moore made the team’s plan clear at the NFL scouting combine. He said the Saints wanted to add one or two quarterbacks before offseason workouts begin. The addition of Wilson fits that plan.
Wilson spent last season with the Miami Dolphins. He served as a backup and saw limited action. He completed 6 of 11 passes for 32 yards across four appearances. When Tua Tagovailoa sat out in Week 16, Miami turned to rookie Quinn Ewers instead. Wilson stayed in a reserve role.
Before Miami, Wilson backed up Bo Nix with the Denver Broncos in 2024. He did not attempt a pass that season but said he learned “a ton” from the experience.
The New York Jets selected Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 draft. He has thrown for 6,325 yards with 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions in five seasons. He holds a 57 percent completion rate.
Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football first reported the agreement. The Saints now head into offseason workouts with added depth and another option under center.
