The New Orleans Saints have gone back to the well of waivers to add depth. Along with claiming wide receiver Trey Palmer, Kellen Moore's team also improved the depth in their trenches on the offensive side of the football.
The Saints have signed offensive lineman Xavier Truss. The former Broncos lineman joins the depth along the OL, which has seen some injuries this offseason. Buried on the depth chart for one of the top OL units in the NFL, Truss has a new opportunity to get playing time if necessary for New Orleans.

I discussed Truss' profile and potential impact for New Orleans with Adam Zientek, who creates plenty of Broncos content.
Xavier Truss was the odd man out in Denver. With one of the best o-lines in all of football and plenty of depth to work with, the raw prospect was waived. Payton and the front office reportedly wanted him back on the practice squad for some key depth, but the Saints came in a picked him up. While he’s a raw prospect, his stature alone is enough to turn heads. The 6-foot-7, 320-pound offensive lineman is able to play both guard and tackle, but has some room to grow with his fundamentals. During his three preseason games with the Broncos, he played a total of 65 snaps, allowing two pressures and two hurries in 30 pass blocking reps. A promising young player that we could be talking about for years to come if he can work out some of the issues with his game. -- Adam Zientek
Truss' potential is the exciting part of his skillset. He is a massive blocker and has positional versatility. With the Saints dealing with injuries to Trevor Penning and Barry Wesley, they need that sort of depth who can fill in at multiple spots along the offensive line.
New Orleans lost backup center Will Clapp and backup guard Nick Saldiveri for the season during training camp/preseason. Truss steps onto the active roster. It remains to be seen how the specifics of the depth chart will shake out by the season opener kicking off.
