Saints' veteran pass rusher suffers major injury

The New Orleans Saints received tough news on Tuesday afternoon. They willl be without an important defensive lineman for a chunk of time.

Saints pass rusher Tanoh Kpassagnon tore his Achilles.

Kpassagnon totaled 34 QB pressures in 2023. That was the third-most on the team's defense. They must replace him now.

Kpassagnon is out indefinitely, according Saints HC Dennis Allen. Fans probably shouldn't expect him for at least some of the 2024 regular season.

The recovery for a torn Achilles normally ranges from six to eight months.

He suffered the injury in the spring, not during OTAs than began last week for the Saints. Now, New Orleans must adjust their defensive line plans. Kpassagnon has been a solid depth veteran over the pasty couple of years with the Saints. He's also known for being a great teammate.

Three of the Saints’ top four defensive ends are dealing with injuries before training camp begins.

Cameron Jordan is battling an ankle issue, and Chase Young  continues to rehab from his neck injury. Kpassagnon completes the trio, and his injury is the most long-term of the three.

Payton Turner now becomes even more important for New Orleans. He has not proven himself due to a plethora of injuries during his pro career. Without Kpassagnon, he could see an increased role on defense if he stays healthy.

Let's see if the Saints go out and sign a veteran free agent on the market to help their DL depth.
