Saquon Barkley enters PFF's top 50 players list (but is severely disrespected)

Everyone knew that an article featuring Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley on Pro Football Focus' top 50 players was forthcoming, but it is being released sooner than many had hoped.

PFF released the next batch of players in the top 50, with those from 21 through 30. Barkley landed on the list at 22.

"Barkley’s record-setting season was pivotal in helping Philadelphia capture its second championship. Including the postseason, he surpassed 2,500 rushing yards, powered by an offensive line that ranked fourth in run-blocking grade. But Barkley made the difference, turning blocks into big plays weekly. He led the NFL with 1,446 yards after contact and 55 explosive runs, while his 83 missed tackles forced trailed only Derrick Henry."

This is a criminally low ranking for one of the best players in the NFL

A legitimate argument could be made for Barkley winning the NFL's MVP award last year, as most people in the media believe he carried the Eagles to the Super Bowl, while Jalen Hurts did nothing (apparently). Barkley finished with 2,504 yards between the regular season and playoffs (NFL record) and was just the ninth running back to rush for over 2,000 yards in the regular season. He did walk away with the AP Offensive Player of the Year award, but probably should have gotten more.

This offseason has been a memorable one for Barkley as the Eagles rewarded him with a new contract extension to make him the highest-paid running back in the league. He is also featured on the cover of Madden 26 as the cover athlete.

His PFF ranking just makes it more of a disappointment for someone who has been getting all the praise in the offseason. He should have been at least in the top 20 or the top running back. The concern is that Henry hasn't been ranked yet, which means he most likely made the top 20. Is he worthy of that spot?

It feels like Barkley isn't quite getting the flowers he deserves from PFF, but he'll have a chance to prove them wrong in pursuit of another 2,000-yard season.
