Saquon Barkley Has Shocking Comments On Potential New Contract
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants have entered the offseason. There are many free agents that will have to decide whether to resign or not. One of the biggest ones is running back Saquon Barkley. He is a free agent and definitely should get another contract with the year he had for the New York Giants. The question is, how much is Barkley worth? Saquon Barkley had some shocking comments on his potential new contract and it should make the Giants, and other teams, very happy.

Saquon Barkley On Potential New Contract

Barkley played out his fifth-year option and set a career-high with 1,312 rushing yards in 2022. Often when this happens, the player is looking for a huge, record-setting contract. Barkley is being more realistic. ” I’m not really concerned about resetting any [running back] markets or anything like that,” Barkley said. “I’m realistic.” This shocking comment should make Giants’ fans very happy. Resigning Barkley shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.

One Of Many Decisions

Barkley is an important decision but the Giants also have a quarterback situation to figure out. Daniel Jones did not look good last night and many wonder whether the Giants should look elsewhere for a QB. The good news is as long as Barkley wants to be in New York, the Giants will make it work. If they do not have to reset the running back market to sign him, they could use that money to upgrade the QB position or another position on the roster.

I would be surprised if Barkley signed elsewhere but it is technically possible. Some team out there could decide to reset the market with an offer and entice him but more than likely he will be a Giant next season under a reasonable contract.
