Saquon Barkley Strongly Claps Back at People Trying to Ban 'Tush Push'

The Philadelphia Eagles' version of the quarterback sneak has raised many eyebrows around the NFL. The Super Bowl LIX champions have mastered this play, which has made it a nearly automatic first down or touchdown, and several teams aren't seeing the advantage they get with this play.

The Green Bay Packers forged ahead and proposed that the league ban the so-called "tush push," citing player safety and pace of play as the main reasons to prohibit this polarizing play.

Green Bay proposed a 10-yard penalty for assisting the runner, interlocking interference or illegal use of hands, arms or body by the offense.

Fans were unhappy about the Packers' reasons to try to ban the play, but they aren't the only ones with a response to the NFC North franchise.

A video shared by "SportsCenter" on Wednesday shows Eagles star Saquon Barkley responding to all the teams pushing for this ban. The running back, who became the ninth player to run for at least 2,000 rushing yards in 2024, had a strong response.

"If you don't like it, get better at stopping it," Barkley said. "It's not a play that we only could do. Everybody does it, everyone tries it. We're just super successful at it; they were super successful before I was there.

"I know what it does to a team, how it breaks down a team and now being on a team, you're lining up and everyone knows what you're doing. It's like 'Stop me,' and they can't. They're gonna get in their feels about it, will try to make changes, but I don't see that happening."

Philadelphia dominated opposing defenses with that play, while Barkley ran through opponents like they were cones. As defending champions, the Eagles will have a target on their backs, and teams are using different tactics to get better at the play.

The Packers' proposal will need 24 of 32 votes to change the rule, but the new voting date is yet to be announced.
