In the new age of media, athletes are often highlighted in a more intimate manner than ever before.
With Hard Knocks, Quarterback, Receiver , and several other shows highlighting NFL teams or players, it's only fitting that now Saquon Barkley is getting his own chance to tell his story, premiering in October.
Barkley's journey from just 2024 is a must-watch, but the ability to see the past several years of his career continues to add to his story. Fans of the Eagles will get the chance to see Barkley's perspective as he went from being the 2018 second overall pick, playing with Eli Manning, to becoming the face of the Giants franchise, and then dealing with the injuries he suffered, culminating in his signing with the Eagles.
Football fans got a taste of Barkley's journey with Hard Knocks, doing an off-season edition of the 2024 season with the Giants, which highlighted Joe Schoen's offseason negotiations that ultimately led to him signing with Philadelphia.
Barkley's departure from the Giants has been nothing but a blessing for the Eagles. In addition to helping the Eagles win their second Super Bowl in franchise history, Barkley earned almost every award he was eligible for this past season.
Barkley earned a Pro Bowl, Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Pro, and the Bart Bell Award, in addition to leading the league in rushing yards. Barkley totaled 2,005 rushing yards in 2024, logging 13 touchdowns on the ground (15 total), and capped off the season by being named the number one player in the NFL top 100, by his peers.
The documentary is set to be directed by Alex Pappas, with Martin Scorsese serving as executive producer, and will premiere on Amazon Prime on October 9. Ironically (or maybe strategically planned), the premiere is on the same day the Eagles are scheduled to on the Giants at MetLife Stadium.
