The Cleveland Browns (4-2) travel to Nashville to meet the Tennessee Titans (1-5) at Nissan Stadium at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. The game can be viewed or streamed on CBS.

This will be the 71st meeting all-time, with the Browns leading the series 37-33. While that might be a surprise to casual fans, or younger fans, don’t forget that the Titans used to be the Houston Oilers, and these teams played twice per year from 1970 through 1995 as fellow members of the old AFC Central Division.

Tennessee Comes in With Some Momentum

The Titans have struggled this season, losing the first five games of the season. However, Tennessee comes into the Week 7 with a little swagger after posting a 26-20 road victory against the Indianapolis Colts in an AFC South Division matchup. The Colts were so sick about the loss that they ended up firing general manager Chris Ballard.

Tennessee won last week’s game in Indy despite collecting just 11 first downs, to 24 for the Colts. Indianapolis had a total of 78 plays and 399 total yards, to just 186 total yards, and 45 total plays. And, Titans quarterback Cam Ward was limited to 102 passing yards, with one touchdown to former Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate, while he also threw an interception.

Tennessee was plus-1 in turnover margin, and the Titans had a blocked punt for touchdown by defensive lineman Oluwafemi Oladejo early in the fourth quarter, which turned the tide. That gave Tennessee a 20-13 lead at the tie, and placekicker Joey Slye booted a 49-yard field with 2:03 to go in regulation to make it 23-20, and he added a 44-yard field goal with :43 left, putting a bow on the scoring.

Tennessee Titans – by the Numbers

The Titans rushing defense has allowed 735 yards, which is tied with the Colts for 24th in the NFL, while giving up 3.8 yards per carry, which is actually somewhat respectable. Tennessee has given up six rushing touchdowns, and just one run play of 20 or more yards.

Through the air, the Titans have allowed 1,412 passing yards, which is middle of the road, while giving up 7.5 yards per pass attempt. The Titans have allowed six passing touchdowns with four interceptions, so Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will have a somewhat tough matchup despite Tennessee’s overall shabby record.

Tennessee ranks 30th in passing offense, as Ward just hasn’t taken off the way the team hoped the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft would. He has thrown interceptions in each of the past four games, too, and the Titans have just four overall passing touchdowns on the season with 5.6 passing yards per attempt, tied for the worst mark in the NFL.

The run game has been no help to the Titans, ranking 27th in the NFL with 497 yards and just 3.8 yards per attempt, with three rushing scores. They have just two runs of 20 or more yards.
