Seattle’s Defense Leads 20-3 Victory on Sunday Night

The Seattle Seahawks delivered a statement victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, winning 20-3 at Lumen Field. Seattle’s defense shut down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense, while Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba helped the Seahawks end their two-game losing streak.

The victory improved Seattle to 4-3, while Kansas City fell to 5-1 and suffered its first loss of the season. The Seahawks controlled the game on both sides of the ball, outgaining the Chiefs 410-213.

Darnold and Smith-Njigba Connect

Darnold completed 20 of 28 passes for 257 yards, one touchdown and one interception. His biggest connection came with Smith-Njigba, who finished with nine receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown.

Seattle opened the scoring with a 25 yard field goal from Jason Myers in the second quarter. The Seahawks extended their advantage later in the period when Darnold connected with Smith-Njigba for a 28-yard touchdown, giving Seattle a 10-0 halftime lead.

Smith-Njigba consistently found openings in the Kansas City secondary, helping Seattle move the ball through the air while keeping the Chiefs’ defense on the field.

Running back Emanuel Wilson also delivered an important performance. He rushed 24 times for 100 yards and scored a crucial 21 yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Myers added two more field goals, including a 35 yarder in the third quarter, as Seattle continued to build its advantage.

Chiefs Offense Struggles

Kansas City struggled to establish any rhythm offensively. Mahomes completed 19 of 33 passes for 165 yards and an interception, failing to throw a touchdown for the second consecutive game.

The Chiefs also struggled on the ground. Kenneth Walker III, who joined Kansas City after previously playing for Seattle, managed just 36 rushing yards on 14 carries against his former team.

Travis Kelce caught four passes for 44 yards, but Kansas City could not generate the explosive plays needed to challenge Seattle’s lead.

The Chiefs’ only points came on a 50 yard field goal from Harrison Butker late in the third quarter.

Seahawks Make a Statement

Seattle’s defense consistently pressured Kansas City and limited its opportunities. The Chiefs never reached the red zone, highlighting how thoroughly the Seahawks controlled the contest.

For Seattle, the victory provides valuable momentum heading into the next week. Kansas City, meanwhile, will need to correct its offensive struggles after suffering its first defeat of the season.
