Seahawks Drew Lock Finds New Home

The Seattle Seahawks didn't select a quarterback in the first round last year despite tons of pre-draft hype, but now they might have no choice but to find Geno Smith's new backup at some point during the three-day event next month.

Per multiple reports, Seahawks free-agent quarterback Drew Lock is signing a one-year, $5 million guaranteed deal with the New York Giants. He could potentially be entering into a QB1 battle with Daniel Jones, who struggled this past season.

"New York Giants are giving former Seahawks QB Drew Lock a one-year, guaranteed $5 million deal, per source," ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted.

Lock, 27, arrived in Seattle in 2022 from Denver as part of the Russell Wilson deal, but he didn't take a snap during his first season with the Seahawks. However, Smith missed some time this past season, which gave way to Lock to prove that he's still a capable NFL starter.

In four appearances, Lock went 48 of 76 passing for 543 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.

Most of this production came during back-to-back starts against the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles, the second of which saw Lock lead a game-winning drive on Monday Night Football in a 20-17 win over Philly.
