Seahawks' Explosive Weapon Predicted to Break Out in 2026

At the 2025 trade deadline, the Seahawks sent a couple mid-round picks to the Saints for Rashid Shaheed. At that point, Shaheed was a solid deep threat, but was mostly known as an elite return man.

After joining the Seahawks, Shaheed played in nine games and caught 15 passes for 188 yards and also had one punt return touchdown and one kick return touchdown. Shaheed earned his second-career Pro Bowl selection for his performance.

Douglas Clawson of CBS Sports recently published one bold prediction for each team in 2026. For the Seahawks, Clawson predicts Shaheed to go over 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career.

“The Seahawks are going to work Rashid Shaheed into the offense to the tune of a 1,000-yard receiving season. The gamebreaker became the fifth player in NFL history with 800+ scrimmage yards and at least three return touchdowns in a season last year (including playoffs), along with Gale Sayers, Troy Brown, Reggie Bush and Tyreek Hill,” Clawson explained. “Now he’s going to break out after an entire offseason to get acclimated to the Seahawks playbook.”

As Clawson noted, this is Shaheed’s first offseason with the team, so he should have a complete grasp of the offense by Week 1. Getting 1,000 yards is definitely possible for a receiver as talented as Rasheed.

So far, Rasheed’s single-season high is 719 yards, which he got in 2023. That was the year Shaheed earned his first Pro Bowl selection, as he was naturally elite on special teams that season as well.

We know Smith-Njigba will get most of the targets, but the young star is going to be double covered a ton. This will give Shaheed ample opportunities, and the Seahawks are not deep at receiver behind the top three.
