Seahawks Involved in Sudden Ashton Jeanty Trade Buzz

The Seattle Seahawks entered the 2026 season still carrying Super Bowl expectations, yet their ground game has quietly slipped into mediocrity.

They rank 17th in rushing yards but a concerning 24th in efficiency at just 3.9 yards per carry, a sharp drop from the explosive production Kenneth Walker III provided as Super Bowl MVP the previous year.

With Walker gone, the hope has centered on Zach Charbonnet’s return from injured reserve to re-energize the run game.

Even then, the Seahawks lack the true game-changing presence that once defined their backfield, leaving them searching for an infusion of talent that can restore balance and keep defenses honest.

As Christopher Kline of FanSided has outlined, Ashton Jeanty represents precisely that kind of upgrade.

The former first-round pick has found himself marginalized in Las Vegas despite his pedigree, with coaches showing little inclination to feature him consistently in his second season.

For Seattle, acquiring the 22-year-old would not require expecting him to match Walker’s output on a one-for-one basis.

Instead, Jeanty offers a dangerous, multi-faceted skill set—capable of both punishing defenses between the tackles and contributing meaningfully as a receiver out of the backfield.

That versatility would immediately ease the burden on Sam Darnold, who has looked unsettled at times and would benefit from a reliable pressure-release option closer to the line of scrimmage.

The fit carries a layer of irony. Jeanty would be leaving Klint Kubiak’s scheme in Las Vegas for the offensive system Kubiak previously installed in Seattle.

In the Pacific Northwest, however, he would also gain something the Raiders have not provided: a winning culture and the supporting infrastructure of a team still firmly on the Super Bowl radar.

Charbonnet could remain a valuable complementary piece upon his return, while Jeanty steps into a featured role that maximizes his youth and pedigree rather than burying it on the depth chart.

Without a more consistent run game, Seattle’s position among legitimate contenders grows more precarious by the week.

Adding Jeanty would not solve every issue on the roster, but it would address the clearest offensive shortfall and give the Seahawks the kind of dynamic backfield weapon that once propelled them to a championship.

In a league where talent at the position can swing games, the opportunity to buy low on one of the most prized young runners in recent memory is one Seattle can ill afford to ignore.
