Seahawks rookie running back Jadarian Price is going on IR with a chest injury, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Price will miss at least four games.

The Seahawks are losing Price just as fellow running back Zach Charbonnet is nearing a return from the ACL tear he suffered in a divisional-round win over the 49ers last January. Charbonnet, who is on reserve/PUP, is back at practice. He’ll be eligible to play in Week 5. In the meantime, the 2-1 Seahawks will rely on George Holani and Emanuel Wilson to lead their backfield against the 0-3 Chargers on Sunday.

Although Price played second fiddle to Jeremiyah Love at Notre Dame, both backs came off the board in the first round of this year’s draft. The Cardinals took Love third overall, and Price joined the reigning Super Bowl champions at No. 32. The Seahawks brought Price in several weeks after losing former starter and Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker to the Chiefs in free agency.

Walker, who inked a three-year, $43.05MM deal in March, has been one of the NFL’s top players in the early going. He leads the league with 360 rushing yards – 57 more than the Seahawks have put up as a team this season. Thanks in part to Charbonnet’s absence, Seattle ranks 20th in the league in ground yards (303) and 23rd in yards per carry (3.8).

Price has run for a team-high 119 yards on 28 attempts (good for 4.3 per tote), but he has struggled with ball security. The 5-foot-11, 209-pounder has already lost two fumbles, including one in a 33-31 loss to the Commanders in Week 3. Head coach Mike Macdonald benched Price during a five-carry, 15-yard showing last Sunday, and he’ll now sit out at least a few weeks after aggravating his chest in practice on Wednesday. Price originally suffered the injury in a 31-7 win over the Cardinals in Week 2.
