Seahawks place TE Greg Olsen on injured reserve with torn plantar fascia

The Seattle Seahawks avenged an earlier loss to the Arizona Cardinals with a 28-21 victory over those same Cardinals at home last Thursday night, but that win came at a price.

According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Seattle has placed veteran tight end Greg Olsen on injured reserve after he suffered a torn plantar fascia in the fourth quarter of Thursday's win. Olsen went down on a non-contact injury and required assistance to leave the field.

He never returned to the game.

Olsen spent the previous nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers and was linked with commentary gigs last winter. However, the 35-year-old instead put pen to paper on a one-year contract with the Seahawks in February. He heads to IR with 23 catches for 224 yards and one touchdown.

Coach Pete Carroll said Olsen will be out for four to six weeks. Due to an NFL rule, a player on IR must miss a minimum of three games before he's eligible to return, meaning Olsen will be sidelined for upcoming contests versus the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, and New York Jets.

Seattle closes the season with games against the Washington Football Team, Los Angeles Rams, and San Francisco 49ers.

In a corresponding roster move, the Seahawks elevated defensive tackle Damon Harrison to the active roster. Harrison, affectionately known as "Snacks," had a tackle in the win over Arizona on Thursday.
