Sean McVay Announces Positive Update on Injured Rams Lineman

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay offered encouraging news about offensive lineman Keagan Trost ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Trost, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, is progressing toward a potential return. McVay said the Rams expect him to be available if he feels good enough to play.

McVay also stressed the importance of protecting Trost’s long-term health. The lineman has missed considerable time, and the Rams do not want to put him in a difficult position simply to get him back on the field.

The update gives Los Angeles a possible boost up front as it tries to recover from a painful overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Rams fell 37-34 after their potential game-winning field goal was blocked, extending the frustration surrounding a narrow defeat.

Trost’s return could provide another option for a unit tasked with protecting quarterback Matthew Stafford. However, his availability alone would not guarantee an immediate improvement in pass protection, particularly after an extended absence.

The Rams must also prepare for an Arizona defense looking to disrupt Stafford and prevent Los Angeles from establishing its offensive rhythm. Keeping the quarterback protected will be important as the team tries to rebound within the NFC West.

McVay’s cautious approach suggests the Rams will evaluate Trost’s readiness rather than rush the decision. A full practice would be an encouraging step, but the final call depends on how the lineman responds physically.

If Trost is cleared, Los Angeles could regain valuable depth along its offensive line. If he needs more time, the Rams will have to rely on their available personnel against Arizona.

For now, the positive development gives the Rams hope of strengthening their protection without compromising Trost’s recovery.
