Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay isn’t shutting the door on Jaire Alexander, but he’s making it clear that the Rams aren’t necessarily looking in that direction.

With Alexander officially hitting free agency after his release from the Green Bay Packers, speculation has swirled about potential landing spots for the two-time Pro Bowler. The Rams, always known for making splash moves, have been mentioned as a possible destination. But McVay’s latest comments suggest that Los Angeles may not be in the mix.

“Nothing but respect for the player, but I don’t know if that’s a direction we would go,” McVay said, via Rams senior staff writer Stu Jackson.

Alexander, who was once one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the league, has dealt with injuries in recent seasons, playing in just 14 games over the last two years. While his talent is undeniable, his availability has been a concern, and the Rams may be hesitant to invest in another high-profile corner after moving on from Jalen Ramsey last offseason.

Los Angeles currently has Darious Williams, Cobie Durant, and Ahkello Witherspoon leading its secondary, and while adding Alexander would boost the talent level, McVay’s comments indicate that the Rams are comfortable with their current group.

Still, things can change quickly in the NFL, and if Alexander’s market doesn’t develop as expected, the Rams could revisit the idea. For now, though, McVay’s message is that Los Angeles isn’t actively pursuing the former Packers star.
