Seattle Seahawks' defense suddenly has its work cut out for it following latest injury news against the Commanders

The Seattle Seahawks boast a top 10 defense in the league and the NFL's best rushing defense, allowing a mere 75 yards per game. Headed into Saturday, it felt like the Seahawks had this one in the bag before they ever kicked off.

But then came the news that Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels is going to be starting at quarterback.

And suddenly, the one area of Seattle's defense that struggles, could be a target for Jayden Daniels.

Seahawks' defense to face Jayden Daniels on Sunday

Jayden Daniels has been up and down in his sophomore season, but for the most part, it's been due to him being banged up. When on the field, he's played well. A lot of his stats like success rate, passer rating, and QBR, are down from his rookie year, but they are still impressive figures.

What might be the bigger problem for Seattle, is that they have the league's 23rd-ranked passing defense. Sure, the Commanders will be without Terry McLaurin, but one thing Jayden Daniels isn't going to do is put the ball in harm's way.

He has just one interception on the season and he will make sure to take advantage of a Seahawks defense that isn't afraid to risk it for the biscuit. That is especially true with questions in Seattle's secondary.

Devon Witherspoon is finally back, but Julian Love is headed to the injured reserve after suffering a setback with his hamstring injury. There is also the trade talks surrounding Tariq Woolen, who Seahawks fans know is unafraid to gamble, which could play to the advantage of Daniels.

A big test, across the country on Sunday Night Football, we'll see if Seattle and the defense can meet the moment, or if the return of Jayden Daniels will be too much to overcome.
