Seattle Seahawks Expected to Make Monstrous $160 Million QB Move

The Seattle Seahawks made the shocking decision to trade starting quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. It was a move that completely changed the outlook of the franchise.

Following the trade, the Seahawks do not have a clear-cut starting quarterback option. Sam Howell is capable of stepping into the role, but that isn't expected to be the case.

Instead, Seattle is expected to make a major move during the NFL offseason to land a new starter.

One name is starting to emerge as the most likely option for the Seahawks. The move would require a big-time contract in NFL free agency.

Sam Darnold is a free agent this offseason. He is expected to garner interest from a few different teams, but Seattle is starting to emerge as a favorite to land him.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic has reported that Darnold is expected by many to end up landing with the Seahawks.

"Decision makers around the league expect Sam Darnold to end up in Seattle on a multi-year deal," Russini posted on X.

Darnold is fresh off of a big-time season in 2024 with the Minnesota Vikings. He resurrected his career and has put himself in position to land a huge contract.

During the 2024 season, Darnold ended up playing in all 17 regular season games. He completed 66.2% of his passes for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

In order to land Darnold, Seattle will have to pay up. Spotrac is predicting him at a market value of around $160 million over four years.
