The Seattle Seahawks and punter Michael Dickson have agreed to terms on a contract extension, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Dickson is signing a four-year, $16.2 million deal, making him the highest-paid punter in the NFL.
Dickson, 29, was previously the league’s highest-paid punter before the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Logan Cooke and Las Vegas Raiders’ AJ Cole both signed more lucrative deals this offseason. The Australian native retakes the title with the start of the 2025 regular season less than three months away.
Dickson, selected in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, has spent the entirety of his seven-year career in Seattle. A First-Team All-Pro selection as a rookie, Dickson has been a model consistency. His 48.2 yards per punt is third in NFL history. He punted 76 times this past season, posting an average of 49.4 yards per punt. Dickson has downed 212 of his 504 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Dickson has been a prolific punter going back to his younger days in Australia, as well as his collegiate career at Texas. He was a unanimous All-American in 2018 and won the Ray Guy Award as the most outstanding punter in the nation.
This upcoming season is the 50th year of Seahawks football. Last week, Dickson was named to the Top 50 Players list.
“Pretty cool,” Dickson said, via Ari Horton of Seahawks.com. “I haven’t taken my time here for granted at all, so it’s quite an honor to be part of that.”
Dickson continued, “I still feel like my rookie season was like a season ago. I come out here and think about that rookie minicamp where I was locked in, taking it super serious and I still feel like I’m like that today. Like I said earlier, I haven’t taken any of my time here for granted. I’m doing everything I can to when the time comes, leave with no regrets. So, I’m doing everything.”
